Triple Decker Bars

This was a very easy bar to make.

Crust

  •  1 stick of butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour

Filling:

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dark corn syrup
  • 3/4 can condensed milk

Topping

  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  • Stir in the flour
  • Work the dough with your hands and knead well together
  • Roll out and press into a shallow 8 inch square pan
  • Prick well with a fork
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes
  • Cool in the Pan
  • To make the filling, put all the ingredients in the pot and heat gently, stirring until the sugar has dissolved
  • Bring to a boil and cook, stirring for 5-7 minutes until golden
  • Pour the caramel over the shortbread base and leave to set
  • Melt the chocolate and milk together
  • Spread evenly over the caramel
  • Put in fridge
  • Leave until quite cold before cutting into bars
